David Standfield successfully completed his 300 mile, 4 day cycle from London to Paris last weekend. Cycling in memory of Old Millfieldian and Surrey cricket star Tom Maynard , “Big D” powered his way into the French capital on Sunday afternoon.
David was followed every step of the way by his own film team, who were there to capture the high’s and low’s of this challenging experience. The weather couldn’t have been worse for the group of 30+ riders and the shear grit and determination shown by all the cyclists was incredibly inspiring to watch. A full documentary of the event is currently in post production.
The sun finally decides to come out after 3 days of hail, rain and gale force winds
Please take this opportunity to help support David as he continues to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital and The Tom Maynard Trust.
Having been there to witness this achievement personally I can tell you there was blood, sweat and tears along the way, but from the outset nothing was going to stop David from achieving his goal. After cycling an average of 9 hours a day here’s what he had to say about the experience.
“You know that the time will pass, it’s just about how much pain you can absorb.”
I look forward to showcasing this emotional roller coaster of a journey with you later in the year. Until then please continue to give generously. Many thanks for your support.
