Old Millfieldian CC Vs Old Cranleighan CC – 7th July 2014

Match report ‘in brief’ by Captain Chris Hellings:

It was good day out at Cranleigh but sadly a defeat for the OM’s. OMCC managed to round up one of Old Cranleighan’s ‘spares’ to make up a 10 man team on Monday, but it was always going to be a battle with depleated numbers!

OMCC were put into bat and there was a good showing from debutant Matt Hopper who rustled up a 50. OMCC’s Australian ‘overseas player’ – “Bettsy” also nudged it around for a hundred to take the score to 250 off 63 overs (YAWN!!).

Old Cranleighan’s chased down the runs losing 7 wickets along the way and with 3 overs remaining. On reflexion OMCC probably fielded an overly aggressive spin bowling attack (no less than 5 spinners!). David Standfield the pick of the bunch picking up his usual hat full of wickets.

After the game OM’s Captain Chris Hellings said “It’s essential that we field 11 players next year for this fixture.”

This was the 4th fixture between these 2 teams, with OMCC still looking for their 1st win over Old Cranleighan’s. Maybe next year…
